| One of the best known regional festivals of Kerala, Onam is celebrated by all Keralites irrespective of their caste or religion. The festival is ten-day long and falls in the month of Chingam (according to the Malayalam calendar) and is celebrated with much pomp and gaiety. People decorate their homes with fresh flower mats known as 'Pookalam' to welcome the King Mahabali. We at Vivekananda Nagar celebrated Onam Festival on Sunday September 21, 2008 by providing Onam Sadya to all the members of the Association. | ||||

Deepawali Celebration on Nov 7, 2007. | |||
| One of the biggest festivals Deepawali is celebrated with lots of enthusiasm and happiness. This festival is celebrated for five continuous days, with the third day being celebrated as the main Diwali or as 'Festival of Lights'. Fireworks are always associated with this festival. The day is celebrated with people lighting diyas, candles all around their house. Lakshmi Puja is performed in the evening to seek divine blessings of Goddess of Wealth. Diwali gifts are exchanged among all near and dear ones. Diwali Celebration was conducted on Wednesday, November 7, 2007 by lighting crackers,etc and distributing diwali sweets to all the members of the Association. |
